Jaffa is an ancient harbor city in central Israel and is under Tel Aviv city municipality. Some say that the name Jaffa (Yafo in Hebrew) derives from YEFET, the son of Noah, a proof the city was built by him, and was established before the big flood.

Jaffa is mentioned in the Bible, among else, as the harbor city from which Jonah the prophet left for his Journey.

Along the history, Jaffa has been ruled and conquered by empires- the Egyptians (800 to 1470 bc), Persians, Romans (67 ac), Crusaders (1099 ac), Napoleon (1799 ac) and more….

Today, Jaffa is mostly known to be a must see tourist attraction. The narrow allies (named upon the 12 signs), the many artist’s galleries, the restaurants and hang out places, souvenir shops , the harbor and the sea, make it attractive to both Israelis & tourists. It has a nice strip of beach and a few nice fish restaurants there.
